Giroud's Goal takes France to Semifinals World Cup

Olivier Giroud scored the winner and Harry Kane missed a penalty in a thrilling World Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday (10/12). The game ended with France winning 2-1.

Aurelien Tchouameni had put France ahead in the first half. But Kane equalised, nine minutes into the second half.

England had the better of them for much of the game at Al Bayt Stadium but suddenly France were in front again when Giroud headed home with 11 minutes remaining.

Kane converted his second penalty but it flew over the net. England's attempt to win its first major international trophy since the 1966 World Cup failed.

Meanwhile, France still has the opportunity to become the first team to defend the World Cup in 60 years.

With Brazil eliminated on Friday (9/12) and England, France are now the favorites to defend their title as they prepare to face Morocco in the semifinals.
