Argentina Wins World Cup 2022, After Defeating France in Penalty Shootout
Lusail - Argentina won the 2022 World Cup trophy . Argentina beat France in the final via penalties 4-2, after a 3-3 draw until extra time.
The 2022 World Cup final match between Argentina vs France was held at the Lusail Stadium, Sunday (18/12) evening WIB. The match was tense from start to finish.
Lionel Messi created two of Argentina's three goals (one penalty). Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for France, two of which were born from white spots.
Argentina led two goals ahead of France through goals from Messi (penalty) and Angel Di Maria in the first half. Les Bleus revived hope after Kylian Mbappe scored two flash goals in the last 10 minutes of play.
The 2-2 draw marked the end of normal time so play resumed with a 2 x 15 minute period. Messi thrilled the French goal to put Argentina back in front in the 108th minute.
However, Argentina's hopes again vanished. Gonzalo Montiel handballed France a second penalty which Mbappe executed perfectly 10 minutes later.
The match went to penalty shootout to determine the winner. Argentina finally won the 2022 World Cup with a 3-2 penalty shootout advantage over France.
